31 imagesLondon during the first lockdown due to COVID 19. London was deserted and silent, the population indoors and fearful. Now that we are in a second lockdown, looking at the pictures I took while riding my bike around London, in the first lockdown, there was a quite different atmosphere. It was novel, a little frightening, a sense that the whole world was experiencing the same anxiety, death and grief. The sun was shining, the birdsong clear, the air fresh. There was the silence. It was a time full of contradictions. We were naive. It is different now. The numbers are truly frightening, our government completely inept, we are bored with lockdown, we are no longer fascinated by this new awful experience. We are drained by it.
